seeing someone
So I have been contemplating seeing a therapist. I really want to just see how it is, get a lot off my chest and talk without being judged. I have always wanted to see someone with a bias opinion but never brought myself to do so. Does anyone else talk to someone? Does it feel good afterwards? I also dont know where to begin to find someone. I guess the yellowpages?? haha

good for you! it helps! i would ask your doctor for a rec or call your insurance company. they usually cover a certain number of mental health visits per year.
ReplyDeleteto me, it really helps to talk to someone on the outside, who doesn't judge. who pushes you to find what the problem is. you are a new mom, and your whole world changed radically. it's good to talk about it as you try to figure things out. :)
hugs!
I'm glad your about to do this. I've been thinking about doing the same for me aswell but no idea where to start!
ReplyDeleteYour doctor can refer you to someone. I have thought of doing this as well. Keep us posted on how you make out!
ReplyDeleteI've thought about it but dont really like to talk to people about my feelings. Thats what my blog is for =). Let me know how it goes! I hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteSome workplaces have Employee Assistance Programs that will refer you to someone and the first few visits are free.
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya, Ashley... thought so often about trying it, but haven't taken the plunge yet. (((Hugs)))
(((Hugs))) Good luck with finding your therapist, both Allison and Sarah are right, your doctor or EAP are good places to start.
ReplyDeleteI don't currently see a therapist, but I have at a couple different points in my life, and they were very helpful. My best advice is, if you don't feel any better after the first 3 visits, find a new therapist. They have all different "styles" and sometimes their style won't mesh with your personality. Just don't feel like you're stuck with the first one you talk to if you don't like them!
I have seen a therapist 3 times in my life when I felt like I was in a total rut. I hope it helps. **hugs**
