good news/bad news

Good News first? We were approved for IVF!

Bad News? This cycle can not be shifted to IVF. My nurse said that she would not have put me on follistim if I was doing IVF. So I guess that throws me all off track.

Question? What do I do??? Do I try another IUI with Inj's or just move right onto IVF?

I dont know how fond I am of the idea of trying the inj's again - even though they would lower my dosage and go from there. But what if they don't lower it enough and I have to cancel yet another cycle? What if I go through with it and it doesn't work? Do I want to waste time and money on something that doesn't have a much higher success rate over Clomid?

I also don't know how fond I am of going straight to IVF. Do I want to rush into it? Maybe I can get pregnant next IUI with inj's?

Ahhhhh! All these questions in my mind and I don't know what to do.

Thank you ladies for your kind words today - I was a total mess and I feel like my entire job knows what I am going through now!! I would have called out today, but we are way too busy right now. I am doing better now - but still very upset that this month has failed even before it had a chance to start. How frustrating!! But I couldn't have dealt with it without my girls!! Thanks again!!!

cancelled.

I knew it. I knew this was going to happen to me. They cancelled my cycle.

They called me yesterday to tell me that my estrogen was kinda high, so they wanted me to come in today too. So I go in today and I have like 30 follies. No Joke. Like 20 on my right and 10 on my left. WTH!!

This is the new RE mind you. And I think he is a flake! So after he measured what seemed to be the same follies 3 times over, then tells me that I have 2 options. I can either cancel my cycle, or do IVF. So of course I said I want to do IVF. He responds with..."Well, I don't know, I don't know how we would move you to IVF from here." Are you kidding me!! Then why did you just give me that option???? Then I asked him if my hubs and I could at least try naturally (no IUI's) he shook his head no.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that when they called me yesterday they told me to take another shot, but of 50mg instead of 75mg. Not for nothing, but if I responded well from the first 4 shots why give me more?!?!?!?! So I asked Dr. Flake about that and he said that it was to make the large follies bigger and the smaller ones to die out. I have never heard of that before!!! How is a follicle producing medication going to kill follies??? That just doesn't make any sense to me. I know I am not a doctor, but that would just be common sense no? Correct me if I am wrong.

By this point he is pissing me off and I just want to get the heck out of there. On the verge of tears. But I asked about IVF one more time. I wanted to know if I should call my financial advisor to see if I was covered for IVF, he looks at my charts and tells me that I am covered. Then a minute later says...well you need to call her anyways...I am a mess today.

What do you do?

So the last 4 days Jay has been giving me the shots of follistim, and now I am done!!! I went to the RE today and he said that I have excellent response to the shots. I think I had about 5 follies on my right ovary and 2 on my left. They are all about 12mm so in a week they should all be just about the right size. I am getting excited for this C....

On Saturday I was at my sisters house with my parents for my mothers birthday. Of course I had to bring the shot and leave it in her fridge. And of course she asked me about it, to which I just explained that it was medicine I have to take at a certain time. It was kinda weird when I had to leave the room to give myself a shot.

Later on in the night my Aunt asked me if I was planning on having kids anytime soon. Which then she proceeded with a quick, "well you have plenty of time" I then stated, not really since we have some things that are inhibiting us to get pregnant. This of course turned into a full, blown out conversation about infertility. I was ok with talking to my Aunt about it. She is my Godmother, and I am very close with her. But my sister was there, and it was a bit uneasy with her listening to all of this with surprise...NO response or input whatsoever. My aunt surprisingly got it. She immediately understood my frustrations. It was nice to get it out (and my mother backed me up on a lot of topics that came up) and my sister may have even understood a little bit better, but I know she still doesn't approve of infertility treatments. Or at least not only a year in.

But my question to all of you (if your still reading : ) is what do you do when that dreaded question comes up? I for some reason tend to let it all out. And then regret it afterwards. I don't know why but when asked or approached about the topic I just cant steer clear of 'letting it all out' so to speak. I wish I could just clam up and say nothing, but I never do.

Its funny though, because a lot of the things that I said that night, I would have never been able to say, just to my sister. So I guess in a way, it was a good thing. But besides my family...even my friends or co-workers - its hard to ignore the topic. And I guess since its such a sore subject for me, its hard not to say how I am feeling.

Did she really??

So if you remember a while back I told you all that my friend I work with left her job. So my company has been trying to find a replacement. Well they did. She started on Wednesday.........and was fired today!! LOL I laugh only because of what she did.
She LIED on her resume and application. She told my company that she graduated college when she really didn't. Then when she was asked about it, instead of being apologetic and trying to explain, she got defensive. Not so good when your job is on the line.

The worst part is, she only needed 3 credits to graduate...1 class! Come on girl...at least take an online or night class or something. I bet if she wasn't defensive and told HR that she was will be enrolled next semester, they probably wouldn't have fired her. My boss made a good point though...she said that you can start a relationship off like this and if she lied about graduating then what else will she lie about. It makes sense.

Just thought I would share that interesting story...

So in TTC news. I started my follistim shots last night. I didn't even feel the needle but about a minute afterwards I had some pain/burning feeling where I was shot. It felt more like the medication reacting with my body....weird. But after about 5 mins or so it subsided. I will see if the same thing happens tonight or it was just a first time thing. Anyone else experience this at all? I am going to try and stay positive this C. I would love for it to work so that I don't have to move onto IVF. But I also don't want to be disappointed if it doesn't work either!!

Thank goodness it is Friday. What a loooooong and busy week. Cant wait to just go HOME!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

I dont want to cry!

and I haven't yet. Its a major breakthrough for me. Every CD1 I am on the verge of tears all day long. But I guess it makes it easier when I knew it wasn't going to work from the beginning.

I read someones post the other day (i forget who) and totally took their advice and went SHOPPING!! I was down and out today and figured on lunch I would take a quick trip to the mall. It was well worth it, cause I found a lot of cute shorts for a good price! It definitely made me happier and cheered me up. Boo for day one, Yeah for shopping!

Its so funny that when I am in my 2ww - I tend to eat A LOT! I don't know if I think I "may" be prego, or just tend to be more hungry around that time of my cycle. And then of course when I get my period I starve myself because I ate like such a pig, and for no good reason! haha Ok I don't starve myself, but I totally don't eat as much as I do during that 2ww. I could also eat more, to busy myself and to not think about it all. Anyone else go through the same thing?

Now I am tired and just want the day to end. I want to plop my butt on the couch and not move for hours. But I am going to try and get to my aerobics class tonight. That will definitely make me feel better, always does.

Have a good night ladies!!!

I'm Back!

Hey gals! I am back from Vacation...wish I was still in 80 degree weather though : (
The vacation was fun, but I don't think I would do a cruise again. All the hustle and bustle just wasn't for us. But we took a lot of pics that I will post up tonight when I get the chance.

Were there any BFP's????

I don't think this month is it for me. Starting to get really crampy, so its only a matter of time till AF shows. Then it is onto injectables. I just want to get this month over with so I can start IVF. I just get the feeling that nothing else will work for us.

I must have caught something on that dreadful boat (too many germs floating around) cause I am sick! : ( I have had a sore throat for days and now its a full blown head cold! Yuck!! I was hoping that was a symptom of a BFP...but no such luck.

Now I am back at work, nothing has really changed, still the same ole BS that I cant stand. If I wasn't going through all this infertility I would so leave this hell hole!!!

Well hope you all have a wonderful week!!!

I'm Gonna Miss You Girls!

So this will be my last post for about 10 days!! I will be returning from my trip next Friday night, but it will probably be Sunday before I get on the computer. I am totally going to miss all you girls!! And will miss hearing how everyone is doing and how there C's are going!

It's funny how much I rely on you girls. I am so glad that I found some of these websites and started this blog. It is such nice stress reliever. A way to get it all out, share my thoughts and feelings, and hear what other people have to say. Its also just nice to know that your not alone. : )

I wish everyone a very happy week, good luck with whatever your going through right now and I hope there are some BFP's when I get back!

One More Day!!

One more day till we leave for vacation!! I cant wait. Really, I need to get out of here!!
My job is making me crazy - and I just got bad IF news.

So I went in yesterday for my first IUI. Everything went smoothly, but for the first time I had really bad cramping later in the day. I almost didn't make it to my aerobics class, but I sucked it up and went anyways. Totally felt better afterwards and was glad that I went in the end.

Today I went in for my second IUI. Again all went off without a hitch. But it was the consultation that scared me in more ways than one. So I sat down with my RE to go over my options since IUI's with Clomid aren't working for me. I HAVE to go onto IUI's with Inj's. Due to insurance reasons, I have to try Inj's a few times before they let me move onto IVF. I know this isn't that big of a deal, but my RE said that if it were up to him he would move me right onto IVF.

He then explained how they do testing to see if IUI's with Injs has more of a success rate than the IUI's with Clomid..but of course they only test it with women with endrimetriosis or unexplained...not PCOS. He also told me that most women with PCOS will have success by the first 3 IUI's and that's when he suggests moving onto something else.

Then he mentioned something that I DIDN'T want to hear. He told me that there is a possibility that my eggs are no good!!! That just sucks! He did say that every women has eggs that will not be good, but there is no way to find out just how many. The only way they will find out is through IVF. I just want to do IVF already!!! I cant stand this anymore.

Here's the Kicker too...my RE is leaving in 6 WEEKS!! I just cant believe it. Just when I was getting used to him, and grown fond of. I know that I had that one mishap, but I am sure that he was just having a bad day, we all do. I don't want to get used to another RE. He also told me the name of the other RE that will be replacing him...figures I think he is creepy and don't want him anywhere near me!!!

This sucks...I am just happy I am getting out of here for a week, its the only good think I have to focus on right now...BAHAMAS HERE I COME!!

Crazy Busy!!

I have been SOOOO busy at work today. Both other designers are out today so I had the workload of 3 people on my plate today. But at least the day is over and I can go home and relax! And the plus side of it...haven't really had any time to think about my friend not being here. Even though I am still sad about it : (

My sister called me today. She called me to tell me that she saw some show about sugar, how much it can affect the body and really screw things up. Somehow we ended up talking about me trying to get prego. (She has no idea that I am going through infertility.)

Let me fill you in a little about my sister. She is 9 years older than me, and will forever look at me as her "little" sister. Growing up it felt like I had 2 mom's, but I never complained because the more people that loved me and took care of me the better. I love my sister with all my heart and can tell her mostly everything. But there are certain things that I feel like she would just not understand. And ends up making me feel worse about it than before I opened my mouth.

So anyways...I only mentioned to her that I was trying to get pregnant. But nothing about troubles, or pcos, or infertility, or IVF, or IUI's...nothing. And even with that, you would think your sister should be super happy for you. "oh my gosh!! You guys are going to try and have a baby!!! I am so happy for you!!!" Yeah okay. I got the..."well, your young and you have time, so don't rush it" So I stopped right there, didnt even continue further with the conversation.

Well that was about 7 months ago...and I haven't breathed a word about pregnancy or trying. Of course she didn't bring it up either, but I knew that would happen. So upon talking to her, somehow it came out...I didn't really get into it too much cause I was at work, but I definitely told her that we are both having problems, I am going to an RE and we have done 3 IUI's. I don't know how happy I am that she knows about it. She wasn't completely against it, but there was that tone in her voice that said..."your rushing this" Of course it didn't make me feel any better off than I already was. And I am kinda regretting it.

Ughh!! Why does life have to be so complicated!! So hard to deal with!!!
Well I am going home...time to relax!! Have a good night all!!

Miserable Friday

So today is my best friend's last day at work. I have been never been at this job without her by my side. We both started right around the same time, 3 years ago. And have been good friends ever since. We would do lunch, go to happy hour, and tell each other everything!! She has been the best friend a girl could ever ask for. She is the sweetest, most generous person that I know.

She decided to leave this hell hole. Good for her. This was her first job out of college, so it was time for her to move on. But she will be greatly missed by everyone - especially me. I honestly don't know how long I will be able to last here without her. I already hate this place and after today I am going to hate it even more.

I am extra sad because she lives very far away. About an hour and half from work, and 2 hours from my house. I know we wont be able to see each other as much, but I am sure we will at least keep in touch via email and myspace...thank goodness for the Internet! But our friendship still wont be the same. It just wont be the same place without her.

And of course to put the icing on the cake - Our whole department (about 8 of us) went out for a goodbye lunch. Keep in mind that all of them (except for me and my friend who is leaving) has children. I think that the topic of kids NEVER left the table. I just couldn't believe it. The ENTIRE time I was sitting there, I thought to myself "Is this conversation ever going to end??" Nope - it just went from one topic of kids eating habits to the other about babies making a mess at a resturaunt. Ughh!!!!

And then just when I thought that I had escaped the horrid question...there it was. "So Ashley - When are you popping out a kid?" Another one chimes in - "yeah, its totally your turn" I just shrugged my shoulders, hoping for someone to change the damn subject. Then the bitch had the audacity to say - "Oh that's right, your probably just content with your dog Sammie!" What?!?! What the the fuck is that?!?!? How does having a dog have any relevance to not having a baby?

And not for nothing, but her father is a GYN - so you would think that she would have some common sense not to push it. Especially when she has asked me that question before and never got a response from me. Sorry but did you ever stop and think that maybe I cant pop out 2 kids in 2 years like you can. This infuriates me!!!! Of course now I am in the worst mood and want this day to end!

Sorry I just had to get this off my chest.

It needs to stop!

Snow, snow...go away! I thought we were done with snow and we just got dumped on! Almost 10 inches! I had a delayed opening this morning - not too bad but I wished I would have just taken a sick day. I didn't really get what I wanted done yesterday and it would have been nice to get it all done today.

The weekend was okay. Jay and I went to Dave and Busters (for those of you who don't know what that is...its an adult arcade!!! There is food, booze and video games) We had a lot of fun, but being that I haven't drank in the longest time and I was feeling sorry for myself, I ended up drinking myself into an oblivion.

That is the reason I got nothing done yesterday, because I was hungover ALL DAY on Sunday. This is why I don't drink. I really hate drinking. I would rather hang out with a glass of wine and get a little giddy than get drunk and not even remember the night. Well that was my one night of drunkenness - good to last me for about a year!

TTC news - nothing really, still have 2 more Clomid pills to take...
