Finally!!

Today is the last day to take those darn BCP's. They have given me headaches, nausea and I started to spot yesterday! I think my body is just all messed up from the meds last cycle. I called my RE and she said that its normal. I probably wont get a full flow of AF. So I have this last weekend to relax, not worry or think about anything. Then next week starts it all...

I have to say there are 2 things that really scare me about this entire experience.
1. OHSS. Since I have PCOS I am more prone to getting this and what happened to me last cycle with the meds - only makes my fears worse.
2. Those nasty progesterone shots. I haven't seen the needle yet, but I heard that they are fairly large and in charge!!! Jabbing a needle the size of a pen refill into my ass just creeps me out!!! I really hope Jay is going to be able to do this...haha

I am feeling a bit antsy right about now...I can only image how I am going to feel when May is here! Deep breaths Ashley - deep breaths.

  1. More deep breaths. It'll be ok. The dr knows your med history & I'm sure will do what he can to minimize OHSS. And think of the shots as short-term pain for a life-long reward.

Glad you're done w/bcp, I've never reacted well to them & hate taking them!

  2. Breathe in, breathe out. I understand freaking out a little, especially about OHSS. I have PCOS too and I get it mildly with Clomid! Scared to see what these needles hold! You will be fine though, I have complete faith in you to do it all and do it well. And THIS IS GOING TO WORK! (positive mental attitude, hehe)

  4. Ugh, I've always had a hard time "adjusting" to bcp, so IKWYM. Cheers to ending them and moving on! Keep up that deep breathing, girlie!

  5. You can do it!! And don't look at the needle - you can't give yourself a needle in the ass anyway. Just make your husband freak out on his own!!
Does progesterone have to be an IM needle? Why couldn't it be injected subcutaneously. That seems cruel and unusual.

  6. Hey Ashley,

The trick with the Progesterone shots is to just do it before you can think about what you are doing. They are really not so bad... I imagine in a week or two they will get old and my poor bum will be black and blue but they are ok to start so don't worry!

As for the OHSS, your Dr will monitor you closely I'm sure and be very conservative with yoru dosages I am sure. You will be just fine!! We'll be here for ya!

  8. GL this C Ashley! The PIO shots do really suck bad but they are so worth it in the long run. And after awhile you get very used to them. Can't wait to follow your IVF C!!!
