Benefits of Daycare
Hi Ladies!
It has been a while I know. Things have been a bit crazy in my life. My hubs has mono so I have been nursing a sick man and trying to keep a baby away from him. We dont need Mackenzie to get mono too! I have also been planning a "sprinkle" for my sister - her EDD is Nov 6...Which I am not too thrilled about planning for an Oooops baby! Plus my mother is a beast to work with when planning parties. So to say the least I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off! hahaha
Anyway I wanted to see if any of you ladies knew of any link to show the benefits of daycare. My mother has been rubbing it in about how much better it is to be a stay at home mom. Well thats great! If you want to pay my mortgage..sure I'll be a SAHM!! I know that I have read a bunch of reasons why it is good - social aspect, building up immunities...etc..but when I try to explain it to my mother she just gets all loud with me. I wanted to send her a link so that she can actually read something rather than not listen to me talk! haha
And figures I cant find what I am looking for!

The MSNBC article was just written in May. Also, there are articles that highlight centers versus in home daycares. I prefer centers because my children were not always treated right at an inhome that I thought I could trust but she was by herself where at a center there are more than 1 teacher and numbers are good.. When I switched them, they loved Daycare and their teachers and friends!
Hope this helps. :)
BTW, I agree that SAHM is an ideal, but also understand the reality that it isn't always possible. You are a great mom A!
ReplyDeleteYeesh, your mom sounds like my MIL. She told me and one of my SILs that when we have kids we HAVE to quit our jobs, because children of working mothers get into trouble. (I told her my mom worked my whole life, but didn't add that 3/4 of my mom's kids graduated from college while only 1/3 of hers even went to college!)
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you! Hope your DH is feeling better soon, and good luck with the "sprinkle!" I'm sure it will be great :)
hmmm, well i don't really have a link but i can tell you that isaac is a social baby. he has been from day one. he thrives with the activity and socializing at daycare, which are things that i can't give him if i stay at home all the time. he is a smart kid (at least we think so) and he is already starting to advance his learning with the preschool teacher at daycare.
ReplyDeletewould i love to stay home with him full time? well, sometimes. but like isaac, i am social. i crave activity and learning. i am not meant to stay at home, at least not at this point.
Don't have any links....But wanted to say hi and I hope your hubby gets over the mono quickly, before infecting you and Mack.
ReplyDeleteI agree w/you... if someone wants to pay my mortgage I'll stay home! I really do think daycare is a good thing though... I mean if we stayed home and they only interacted w/us all day they would miss out on so much! Not to mention be spoild brats! LOL
ReplyDeleteHey girl! I'm trying to plan a T-shirt for IF awareness and I want to put a IF ribbon (light blue and pink). You can look at the t-shirt on FB or blog, give any pointers you'd like. I am going to order and mail to the girls. They will reimburse me. I know you want one!!
